While the screen sizes of the iPhone 15 are likely to stay essentially similar from the current generation, it is commonly believed that the Pro models will gain larger displays in 2024.

Many well-known leakers have already predicted the size of the iPhone 16, with Ming-Chi Kuo noting that the devices will be "slightly larger" and display analyst Ross Young providing a precise measurement of the growth: 6.2 inches for the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.8 inches for the Pro Max/Ultra.

The upcoming iPhone will be much larger, according to leaker Unknownz21, who earlier this month predicted screen sizes of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches:

The most recent addition to the list is Apple tipper Mark Gurman, albeit with modestly hedged bets. The insider claims that the iPhone 16 Pro versions will grow by "a couple tenths of an inch diagonally," making them the largest iPhones to date, in the most recent issue of Gurman's Power On newsletter.

Gurman points out that the larger size would increase Apple's ability to compete with Samsung's large-screen handsets, such as the Galaxy S23 Plus (6.6 inches) and Galaxy S23 Ultra (6.9 inches), as well as provide the company more room inside for hardware upgrades like better cameras and bigger batteries.

For those who believe that the current iPhones are the ideal size for the hand, this isn't necessarily terrible news. It's feasible that a large portion of the additional screen space will fit within the existing frame of Apple's impending iPhone 15 Ultra, eliminating the need to significantly increase the device's footprint. Apple appears to be making amazing success in lowering the bezels on this model.

Since the standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are anticipated to maintain their respective sizes of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches from the current generation, they would also carry on Apple's recent practice of upselling the Pro models from its standard iPhone models.

With a faster processor and Dynamic Island being exclusive to Pro models only last year, Apple made the distinction between Pro and non-Pro devices more evident than ever. Subtle improvements like ProMotion and enhanced camera performance were also made to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In conclusion, a bigger screen size might be a reason to hold out for the iPhone 16, but this year's improvements are also not to be overlooked. A switch to USB-C, Dynamic Island for everybody, a new mute button, and a periscope camera for the iPhone 15 Ultra model are anticipated iPhone 15 innovations arriving in September.
